Care & Maintenance

Daily Care

Use coasters and trivets where possible to protect from oil, alcohol, citrus juice, and heat. Natural Stone is extremely durable but is not impervious to these items.

Blot spills immediately (don’t wipe). Clean the area with mild soap and water and rinse thoroughly several times. Repeat as needed. Dry the surface completely with a soft cloth.

Cleaning

Clean your countertops using a natural stone cleaner or mild soap and warm water. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions.

Do not use any scouring or other abrasive cleaners, or products containing lemon, vinegar, or other acidic items. Any of these are likely to damage and dull your surface.

For best results, check with the supplier of your stone material  for cleaning guidelines.

Sealing

Your countertops will be sealed prior to installation.

Sealing is a precaution taken against staining- but it does not make stone stain proof. It behaves more like a repellant, making your countertops resistant to staining.

SCS uses 511 Impregnator Sealer found at most home improvement stores. Or, you can check with the supplier of your stone material for their recommendations.

Seal your countertops every 6 months to 1 year, following the product manufacturer’s guidelines.
